A panel of four shortlisted architects for the NZIA Regional Awards (Auckland) 2026 talk about their projects at Objectspace on Tuesday 9 June 2026: Pete Bossley, Megan Edwards, Cécile Bonnifait and Lynda Simmons.
The shortlist was compiled by a jury led by Rachael Rush of Klein Architects, alongside Nicholas Dalton (TOA Architects), Kelly O'Sullivan (SGA Architects) and Brian White (Edwards White Architects). This event is presented in partnership between Objectspace and Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects Auckland Branch.
Book launch: Oceanic Architectural Routes: The Work of Mike Austin, 6 May 2026 at Objectspace
This book launch follows the exhibition ‘Oceanic Architectural Routes: The photographic archive of Mike Austin: Presented by Architectus’ (Objectspace 3 Dec 22-26 Jan 23), which showed the photographic archive of Dr Mike Austin - taken during his travels from the late 1960s to 2006 in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, the Cook Islands, Hawai‘i and Rapa Nui.
The Oceanic Architectural Routes book is edited by Albert L. Refiti, Victoria McAdam and Emily Parr, and is published in partnership between Objectspace and the AUT Vā Moana Research Centre. It isdesigned by Shaun Naufahu and illustrated with photographs taken by Austin during his extensive travels around the Oceanic region.
New York-based Madame Architect’s Julia Gamolina interviewed Lynda while there for a 5-month stay in 2025/26, and the interview was published on the website on 11 March 2026. Madame Architect has a global reach, with its founding idea clear and powerful: simply provide a platform for the many talented women working in the field of architecture. This aligns very much with the approach of the founding team at A+W NZ, and it is an honour to be included in the interviews section of Madame Architect

On Tuesday 29 July 2025, a panel discussion was held at Objectspace as part of the NZIA Talk series, and to complement the current show Rendered Futures: Drawing Architecture. The focus of the NZIA Talks: ‘An architecture drawing riot’ panel discussion was on the legacy of Dr Sarah Treadwell on architectural education and the profession via her approach to drawing since the 1980s, which was firmly embedded in theory. The panel was Dr Marian Macken (UoA), Lise Jansen-Luke (Cheshire Architects) and Dr Rafik Patel (AUT), and was chaired by Lynda Simmons.
On Tuesday 17 June 2025, architects John Coop, Craig Moller and Lynda Simmons joined Objectspace Director Kim Paton to discuss their drawings included in the show Rendered Futures Drawing Architecture and the shape-shifting nature of architectural drawing over time. This was a preview event related to the exhibition for Objectspace’s supporters.

Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZIA interviewed Lynda and others (Christina van Bohemen, Renée Williamson, Melanie Tristram and Teena Hale Pennington) for their reflection and news piece published on International Women’s Day 2023.
Elizabeth Cox, author and editor of Making Space, has since confirmed that in fact there are over 500 names in her book, 300 is a conservative figure.
On 2 December 2022, Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland published an online article, following an interview between media advisor Hussein Moses and Professional Teaching Fellow Lynda Simmons. The discussion centered on the upcoming A+W NZ Fathers' Forum event, a discussion forum on the need for flexible working structures, which Simmons has developed for A+W NZ.
On 21 October 2022, Elizabeth Cox and Lynda Simmons were interviewed on the Nine to Noon RNZ show, by Lynn Freeman. They discussed the importance of Elizabeth's recently published book Making Space, in relation to a broader history of women working in architecture in Aotearoa New Zealand.

ĀKAU and Dr Fleur Palmer were interviewed by Lynda Simmons at Objectspace as part of the Fast Forward Breakfast Series (UoA SoAP) on 25 September 2019. This was one of many events held in support of the Making Ways exhibition (14 Sept-13 Oct 2019), curated by Kathy Waghorn.
